Computer Literacy Essay Example for Free

PC Literacy Essay Thou will not vandalize Web pages. Thou will not close down Web locales. Thou will not pine for thy neighbor’s MP3s. FBI specialists are spreading another gospel to guardians and educators, trusting they’ll better instruct adolescents that vandalism in the internet can be financially exorbitant and similarly as criminal as letter drop slamming and spray painting showering. The Justice Department and the Information Technology Association of America, an exchange gathering, has propelled the Cybercitizen Partnership to urge teachers and guardians to converse with kids in manners that liken PC violations with antiquated bad behavior. The incipient exertion incorporates a progression of courses around the nation for educators, homeroom materials and guides and a Web website to assist guardians with conversing with kids. â€Å"In a majority rules system all in all, we can’t have the police everywhere,† said Michael Vatis, executive of the FBI’s National Infrastructure Protection Center, which makes preparations for PC assaults by fear based oppressors, remote specialists and youngster programmers. â€Å"One of the most significant methods of diminishing wrongdoing is attempting to show morals and ethical quality to our children. That equivalent rule needs to apply to the digital world,† he said. Perceiving Virtual Crime Vatis and other FBI operators went to an opening shot course, titled the National Conference on Cyber Ethics, a weekend ago at Marymount University in Arlington, Va. Some portion of the test: Many youngsters despite everything consider PC naughtiness innocuous. An ongoing overview found that 48 percent of understudies in basic and center school don’t consider hacking unlawful. Gail Chmura, a software engineering instructor at Oakton High School in Vienna, Va., makes morals a steady in her educational program, showing kids points, for example, PC law, programming theft and web based cheating. She has contended with understudies who don’t see that taking from a PC with awful security is as off-base asâ stealing from an opened house. â€Å"It’s continually intriguing that they don’t see an association between the two,† Chmura said. â€Å"They just don’t get it.† The FBI’s Vatis tells understudies, â€Å"Do you figure it would be OK to go splash paint your neighbor’s house or the supermarket down the road? On a Web website, it’s a similar kind of thing. It’s somebody’s customer facing facade or an expansion of themselves.† Chmura attempts comparable messages. For example, she asks a growing writer how he would feel if his music was taken and parted with on the web. â€Å"They do some of the time understand that when they’re replicating someone’s item, it’s that 5 penny circle, yet someone’s work that they’re copying,† she said. â€Å"I figure they do come to value the way that it’s somebody’s compensation they’re stealing.† Driving Home Consequences Vatis refers to a not insignificant rundown of digital wrongdoings executed by minors, remembering assaults for resistance division PCs in 1998 and the February sticking of significant Web destinations, for example, Amazon.com and eBay. He attempts to commute home the results of hacking †including the assets it channels from his inside, as law authorization scrambles to discover who is capable at the beginning of an assault. Specialists â€Å"don’t know whether it’s a fear based oppressor or a remote military,† Vatis said. â€Å"It redirects rare assets of individuals who are attempting to concentrate on wrongdoing, fighting and terrorism.† And youngsters aren’t the main ones needing preparing. Understudies and guardians additionally are as often as possible uncertain about what crosses a moral limit in the internet, where anybody can download pilfered melodic chronicles. â€Å"We had some conversation about the legalities of whether you’re offering something to your companion or copying CDs to sell at your school,† said Deborah Price of Lewisville, N.C., parent of a 14-year-old little girl. â€Å"I’m not genuine sure about Napster morals myself.† Price †whose little girl utilizes Napster, the music-sharing assistance considered a danger to the account business †feels that PC morals are a significant issue. â€Å"I figure it ought to be a piece of the conversation at the school,† Price said. â€Å"It’s just going to get bigger.† References: ABC News W A S H I N G T O N, Oct. 10 FBI Pushes for Cyber Ethics Education By D. Dos and Donts of Dealing With Anger

Dos and Donts of Dealing With Anger Stress Management Management Techniques Print Dos and Donts of Dealing With Anger By Elizabeth Scott, MS twitter Elizabeth Scott, MS, is a wellness coach specializing in stress management and quality of life, and the author of 8 Keys to Stress Management. Learn about our editorial policy Elizabeth Scott, MS Updated on September 18, 2019 Cultura/Matelly/Riser/Getty Images More in Stress Management Management Techniques Physical Techniques Relaxation Time Management Effects on Health Situational Stress Job Stress Household Stress Relationship Stress We all experience anger. Managed in healthy ways, anger can be a positive thingâ€"a red flag that something’s wrong, a catalyst for change, a good self-motivator. Handled poorly, anger can cause health and relationship problems. For many, especially those who didn’t have positive role models for anger management while growing up, dealing with anger can be confusing; it’s hard to know what to do with such a powerful and potentially destructive emotion. Examining your anger and using other anger management techniques can positively impact your health, relationships, and overall happiness. Its simple to do. Here are some proven anger management strategies. Understand Your Anger Dealing with anger is much easier when you know what you’re really angry about. Sometimes people may feel generally irritable because of stress, sleep deprivation, and other factors; more often, there’s a more specific reason for the anger. Either way, you can become more aware of what’s behind your anger if you keep an anger journal (a record of what makes you angry throughout the day) for a few weeks, then talk it over with a good friend, or even see a therapist to uncover underlying sources of anger, if you find yourself stumped. Once you are more aware of your sources of anger, you can take steps to deal with it. Using Journaling to Process Your Feelings Express Yourselfâ€"Constructively Research shows that writing about anger and expressing it constructively can help reduce negative mood and even pain, particularly if the writing leads to ‘meaning-making,’ or speculation into the causes of the anger. This research, as well as other research on the benefits of journaling,  supports the effectiveness of writing down your feelings and working through them on paper. The written expression of anger allows you to actively do something with your anger rather than just letting it make you feel bad. Take Action Your anger is telling you something. The first part of dealing with anger, as discussed, is examining it and listening to what it’s telling you about your life. The next part involves taking action. Knowing why you’re upset can go a long way, but eliminating your anger triggers and fixing problems that make you angry are equally important. You may not be able to eliminate everything in your life that causes you anger and frustration, but cutting out what you can will go a long way. Find Relief With the 7 Best Online Anger Management Classes Don’t Obsess Ruminating on your anger isn’t actually helpful. Studies show that, among other things, those who have a tendency to ruminate over situations that have made them angry in their past tend to experience higher blood pressure as a result, putting them at greater risk for organ damage and associated health problems. Trying to solve a problem is a good idea, but stewing in your anger is not. Mindfulness meditation is a proven strategy  for minimizing rumination. Don’t Over-Talk It Discussing your anger is a tricky thing. Talking about your anger with a trusted friend can be an effective strategy for dealing with angerâ€"to a point. It can help you better understand your feelings, brainstorm problem-solving strategies, and strengthen your relationship. However, there’s also evidence that repeatedly discussing topics that make you angry with your friends can actually make you both feel worse, and increase stress hormones in your blood. If you’re dealing with anger by talking to friends about it, it’s best to talk about a situation only once, exploring solutions as well as your feelings. Most of usâ€"especially womenâ€"have been involved in conversations that are basically complaint sessions or downward spirals of negative emotion; it’s best to change the subject to a happier topic before it gets that far. If you find yourself wanting to talk a lot about what is making you angry, it might be a good idea to schedule a few sessions with a therapist, who may have some effective ideas on dealing with anger. Market vs. Command Economy What is the main purpose of the economic system? The main purpose of the economic system is method used to produce and distribute goods and service. Firms obtain the inputs or factors of production in the factors markets. The goods are sold in the products markets. In most respects these markets are the same. Price is determined by the interaction of supply and demand, firms attempt to maximize profits, factors can influence and change the equilibrium price and quantities bought and sold and the laws of supply and demand hold. Consumers (households), in pursuit of their self-interest, have the incentive to look for lower prices. The Giant Pacific Octopus Free Essays

The Giant Pacific Octopus This paper is about octopus dofleni, which is a bottom-dwelling octopus that lives on coasts of the pacific ocean, from Northern Japan to California. This essay will provide a brief overview of its life, habits and other characteristics of this, intelligent and creative invertebrate and member of the Octopodidae family. The life of the pacific giant may begin at any time of the year. We will write a custom essay sample on The Giant Pacific Octopus or any similar topic only for you Order Now The mating season however tends to peak in the month of December, with most of their eggs being laid in April and May. Octopuses reproduction is sexual and takes place in the somewhat shallow depths of 25 -100m and can last hours. The fertilization process begins with the male octopus, he uses his third right tentacle which has no suckers but a modified structure known as the hectocotylus to pass spermatophore from within his mantle cavity into the the mantle cavity of the female, also known as the oviduct. Male octopuses may mate with more than one female in their lifetime and females tend have a preference of larger males for their mates. While the female lives until the eggs have time to hatch, the male dies only a few months after breeding. Reproduction After being fertilized the female will close herself off in a den here she will lay anywhere between 20,000 and 100,000 eggs over a span of 2-3 weeks. Incubation can take from six to eight months. During this time the female octopus will take to cleaning algae and bacteria off the eggs as well as blowing water at them to keep a steady supply of oxygen. After the eggs hatch, the mother clears an opening in the den for her young to swim up to the surface of the ocean. Life Span After hatching the octopus larva become much like plankton, drifting along the surface of the ocean feeding on particles of dead food from other larger animals. This stage lasts 30-90 days at which point the octopus descends to the bottom of the ocean where it will spend the rest of its life. The Pacific giant may live up to five years without mating. Some have been recorded weighing up to 600 pounds and being 31 feet wide, but the average size is only about 9 feet wide and 100 pounds in weight, still weighing in as the largest species of octopus. The Den of the Octopus When making or finding a den, octopuses are very resourceful, some dig up areas of sea floor to build their own den, but others prefer to live in manmade dens such as sunken ships. Dens are very important to octopuses, they use them for hatching their eggs, feeding, and sometimes uses it to hide from predators such as larger octopuses and seals. In general, octopuses are very mobile, and may occupy multiple dens in their lifetime. Feeding Habits Octopuses feed on everything from smaller octopus, crustaceans, crabs, and shrimp. Octopuses usually hunt at night and capture their prey in many different ways, some use their brute strength and size while others poison prey with their venom. Lifestyle and Characteristics Much like the other aspects of its life, the octopus is very resourceful, in its defense and hunting methods and mechanisms. Some species of octopus are extremely poisonous to man; they can administer their poison in two ways, by either biting with their bird like beaks, or releasing the venom into the surrounding water of its prey. Though octopuses usually use this tool for hunting, and not defense, this poison can attack the nervous, and respiratory systems of man and can cause death within an hour. There is currently no known antivenom for the octopus’s deadly poison. Octopuses also have the ability to change the color of their skin in order to camouflage themselves. This is done through the use of chromatophore cells in the skin. Chromatophore cells are comprised of three sacks containing different colors. The octopus can adjust these colors to match the color of their background. The normal color of the octopus is brown, but it is also seen in other colors correlating with their emotions, such as red for anger and white for fear. The skin of the octopus is generally very soft, the only part that is not is the beak or the head of the octopus, this allows octopuses to fit through holes no larger than the beak its self. All octopuses have the ability to shoot out a jet of purple or blackish ink like fluid from under their eyes, in order to perform a disappearing act when they feel threatened. The octopus can shoot out several blotches of this fluid before the fluid sac is emptied. This trick is not always an option, the ink is actually toxic to the octopus, and if shot in a confined area, the octopus will become sick or even die. Octopuses have fairly good eyes, in fact they are comparable to ours in clarity. The eyes of the octopus differ from ours, in the aspect that they focus by moving in, and out while the human eye works by changing the shape and size of the lens itself. The octopus also posseses the most advanced brain of all invertebrates, with both short, and long term memories. This allows the octopus to learn in much the same way as humans, through trial and error. When an octopus learns a lesson it remembers and puts its knowledge to use in the future. The octopus has eight arms, with 250 suckers on each arm for a total of 2000 suckers on their body. These suckers are very sensitive to touch, in fact, the octopus can differentiate between different objects just as well with their suckers as they can with their eyes. Some species have particular suckers that are larger than the rest This is to aid in reproduction. Although octopuses often lose arms to predators, it is of no consequence as the arm will grow back in a short time. The Octopus Dolfeni and Man The pacific giant is the most common commercial species of octopus and is caught by fisheries from north Japan to Washington state. The octopuses are caught in large sometimes clay pots and raised to the surface. The octopuses are used for bait and for consumption by humans. Although these octopuses are caught in nearly all of their habitats, they are not endangered. The ocean is where life began, and is a far more competitive, and harsher world than the world we know. So it comes as no surprise that the most advanced and well adapted life forms would be found in the ocean. Although octopuses do not build large structured civilizations, they are obviously another form of intelligent and highly adapted life forms. How to cite The Giant Pacific Octopus, Essay examples

Social Mobility Research Paper Essay Example

Social Mobility Research Paper Essay The comparison within one family usually implies the vertical mobility, though the horizontal is indeed not excluded. The differences might sometimes be striking. Modern â€Å"globalization† society develops at a much higher speed and provides much more opportunities and options to individuals. These changes make the changes of stratification variables impressively outstanding. At the same time, in the last several decades the society has faced numerous breakdowns and evolutionary changes that now define the possibility of an individual to cross the strata and move vertically to other social position to another. There are multiple opportunities, but there are also numerous obstacles to them. The analysis of changes of an individual’s life in various stratification variables (education, religion, and income, and occupation, area of residence, consumption patterns, and political participation) compared to his or her relatives, friends or other social groups, enables to determine the level of this individual’s social mobility, which can be horizontal and vertical (the latter is either upward or downward). We will write a custom essay sample on Social Mobility Research Paper specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now We will write a custom essay sample on Social Mobility Research Paper specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer We will write a custom essay sample on Social Mobility Research Paper specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer My grandparents were born before the baby boom and thus were lucky enough to have obtained proper education and good jobs before the market flooded with numerous specialists from the baby-boomer generation. They were comparatively well-off and fitted into the given circumstances. When my parents were born, they received an accepted elementary and secondary education, and then in technical and literal fields. When the time arrived, they had to choose what career to pursue. My father was an engineer, and he found a job in a construction company. My mother began her career as an assistant to a sales company. She then had an opportunity to become a sales manager but, in the end, decided to become a housewife and a good mother. By that time I was born. By the present time, I can not claim my social mobility regarding education was astonishing. The only vertical movement in this stratification variable is the level of education I am planning to achieve. After graduating from the university and obtaining a degree of Bachelor Administration in Business Management, I would like to continue my education and receive an MBA degree. My future occupation is the aviation engine mechanic, but that is not the end of the planned career. I intend to climb the career ladder and pursue the opportunities in the field of aviation management. The education stratification variable has experienced substantial changes in the recent decades. Nowadays more and more opportunities are available to those, who have a desire and a talent to grow professionally. Companies are willing to pay for the talented employees and to bring up managers of the higher level. The levels of income have also become higher in comparison to my parents and grandparents. Now, an excellent part-time job will generate more than my relatives used to earn per day. The problem is that the prices and expenditure/consumption levels have also increased substantially. Thus, in this case, vertical mobility is doubtful. As for the consumption patterns, they, too have changed. Now we spend even more on food and entertainment, but a more significant part of income spent on the latest technological achievements. One cannot help the consumerism trends in the American society. All marketing methods used by numerous companies are targeting our pockets. Those, who try to be up-to-date, can hardly imagine their life without digital phones, cameras, computers, palms, â€Å"hands-free,† Bluetooth, house appliances, computers, internet-based services and much more. And of course, when I was a kid I was curious about all the innovations but did not treat them as a â€Å"must-have.† My parents had no idea such things would consume their son’s income back in the late 70’s when I was born. The same statement holds true for my grandparents, who mostly spent money on global â€Å"lifetime† purchases like the house, automobile, refrigerator, etc. In this stratification variable, next generations are upwardly mobile, because they have more opportunities to choose from and new technologies to implement and make like easier. Sometimes I think that the change in attitudes towards new technologies and products offered by vast modern market had greatly influenced my attitudes towards my grandparents. When I was younger, I believed they were too old-fashioned because they had no idea of new things that appeared in the world. Now, the speed of innovations is high enough to make almost everyone seem â€Å"old-fashioned.† My political participation, as well as the area of residence, differs neither from that of my parents nor my grandparents). One can not say we are politically ambivalent, but political activity is not what my family would go into, taking into consideration given circumstances. They would preferably manager their local â€Å"country,† which is their family and take care of themselves and the relatives. I certainly can not deny I may one day change my attitude and take part in political processes, but that would be possible only in case of further vertical social mobility. I will have to have a good education, a decent career, high level of income and many other conditions to follow to become politically mobile. By now, I am more interested in obtaining higher education and finding a good challenging and rewarding job. I believe that the changes in attitudes I had experienced were caused by my participation in various social groups and the individuals I had met along the way – my friends, other students, colleagues, etc. Of course, the changes in society are also worth mentioning. Humans are now greatly influenced by media, and other sources of information, political, economic and social upheavals, etc. The latter three were, undoubtedly, affecting all the previous generations, but globalization had made new changes much more noticeable and influential. It is difficult to determine the level of mobility (both upward and downward) because things seem more different than they are in reality. What appears to be a significant step ahead is sometimes only a half-step forward. I believe every generation makes a step ahead, but only time will show how far we have reached. My parents think their children should be better than they are, but I still have a lot to do for that wish to come true.

China Construction Market The WritePass Journal

China Construction Market Intoduction China Construction Market ). As noted above, the potential to form a JV based on the technology and knowledge within the company is immense as Chinese builders look to rein in costs and compete more effectively in an oversupplied market. One area of consideration for a business would be the current structure of the market, with previous research noting that the Chinese construction market is largely made up of state-owned and local private enterprises (World Bank, 2014). According to recent research undertaken (EUSME, 2013) privately-owned companies control 81% of the market, state-owned 18%, while foreign-funded firms control less than 1% of the overall market. From this, it could be assumed that regulation and business practices may restrict some international companies from moving into the market. Regulation: many companies that have attempted to establish Chinese entities have experience strong regulatory constraints; with the Chinese see protective of their domestic industry (Rowley, 2014). It has previously been noted that it is difficult to obtain building sector licenses given that Chinese provinces will favour the use of local construction companies, with corruption still a major issue to overcome (US Department of Commerce, 2012). Furthermore, it could be mentioned that China is quite risk adverse to the introduction of new building/material techniques, with regulation in place that quite often restricts the entrance of new technology into the market due to an inability for the country to assess its implications on the wider industry, which to some could be seen as a form of protectionism given that the construction sector is such as large employer within the country. While a JV may be beneficial for an international company given its access to a local market player who understands the market, the company must be wary of the technology or knowledge it would be sacrificing in the process (Cameron, 2012). It may also be noted that given current market conditions in China, some Chinese companies may be willing to form JV’s with Western counterparts in a bid to gain access into the recovering markets in Europe and the U.S. Again, the difference in regulation may affect the attractiveness of the Chinese market to some businesses. Business Practices: taking into account practices, it could be seen that major contracts in China have been known to be awarded more through relationships rather than product/ service quality (World Bank, 2014). To some Western companies, this may be business practices they are unwilling to follow, or in some cases unwilling to support the management change that is needed to facilitate business in the Chinese market. Taking this into account, the business must ensure that is able to trust the business and its employee’s in the joint venture. Given the difference in doing business and ethics, the UK Company must ensure that the JV does not contradict its standards in the UK (Cameron, 2012). Key Characteristics: key characteristics of the market may also be of importance given that it could be assumed the Chinese growth in construction has to part been fuelled by quantity over quality. There have been a number of reports detailing the major $Billion efforts by cities within China to essentially support rapid expansion, however most of the building work appears to be of a much lower standard/ design than similar projects in the western economies. With this, it becomes a question of whether the current market in China would fit in with the interests and desired outcomes of the UK Company seeking the JV. To provide come concluding remarks, the UK must ensure that it picks a Chinese partner that meets its UK ethical standards and business practices, essentially aligning their priorities to develop a viable business plan for the JV’s development in the marketplace (Paton, 2008). The company must also ensure that it’s safeguarding its intellectual property, mainly when dealing with Chinese companies that are in need of new development/ technology to improve competitiveness in their home market. The company must also ensure that it picks a partner where it can be an equal stakeholder it he project (Bosshart et al, 2010) References AECOM (2013) Asia Construction Outlook 2014, London, AECOM. ACT in 9th Grade

Should You Start Prepping for the SAT/ACT in 9th Grade SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips "Before anything else, preparation is the key to success." While Alexander Graham Bell may not have been referring specifically to the SAT or ACT, his words ring as true for these tests as for anythingelse. Scoring highly on the SAT/ACT is all about preparation, and luckily you have plenty of time to prepare if you start early. If you haven't started already, let's discuss some reasons why it's useful to start prepping as a freshman and the best ways for doing so. Why Are the SAT and ACT So Important? Most colleges require applicants to send their scores from the SAT or ACT. Colleges consider these two tests equally, so it's up to you to choose and determine which test will better strengthen your overall application. As college admissions get more and more competitive every year (sorry, but it's true!), a strong SAT/ACT score goes a long way toward making your application stand out among the thousands of other applicants. While your curriculum and experiences in schools may differ across the country and the world, the SAT/ACT are meant to test students on an equal playing field. Some schools have adopted test optional and test flexible policies, so you'll eventually want to make sure you're aware of your college's requirements. But it's safe to say the majority of you who are applying to 4-year schools will be taking the SAT or ACT. The SAT is considered to be more of a critical reasoning test that tests yourskills in math, writing, and reading comprehension and analysis. The ACT also has a math, English, and Reading section, but it additionally has a science section. The science section is almost more like critical reading than a science class pop quiz, which I'll explain in more detail below. Both of these tests cover material that you've learned over the years and skills you've developed by 9th grade. Before delving deeper into the content of the tests, let's discuss why test prep is so important for the SAT and ACT . Test Prep and the SAT/ACT While you gain knowledge and develop fundamental skills in and out of school, most students also must do a lot of focused, test-specific preparation to perform well on the SAT/ACT. This is because the tests are unique in the way they time you and ask questions, so you must pair strategy and specific time management skills with your knowledge and understanding. Through practice and studying, you can become familiar with the structure and types of questions in each section, how to best approach them, and what rules of math, grammar, and literary terms will be tested. You can figure out exactly how to read the SAT passages or the ACT passages with time to spare, what approaches will boost your score in math, and what exactly is tested on the ACT science section, to name a few examples. Rome wasn't built in a day, as they say, nor can you become an expert in the SAT or ACT overnight. Freshmangrade is the perfect time to start prepping for the SAT/ACT, reinforcing concepts you need to know, and taking official practice tests. If you're having trouble getting started, remember that you'll be doing Future You a favor. By taking time to prep now and diagnosing exactly where you need to improve, you'll be able to be more relaxed when you're in the thick of college applications and more intensive classes, like honors and AP classes. Junior Year You will really appreciate all the help you can give him/her now! So how can you start to prep? PrepScholar's online program offers customizable test prep that diagnoses your strengths and weaknesses, plans your study schedule, and keeps track of your progress along the way. This means that PrepScholardoesn't assume you're a junior in high school, but meets you atyour level. You can also start with SAT Questions of the Day and ACT Questions of the Day, which are a quick, easy, and convenient way to start getting familiar with the types of questions you'll see on the tests. You can find online sample questions on the College Board and ACT websites, as well as download and print official practice tests for the SAT and ACT. If you start studying now, you'll become an expert on the test by the time you register for your first test date. Not only will SAT/ACT test prep help you score high on these tests, it also will help reinforce what you're learning in school and may help you get better grades in your classes. Let's check out how the tests and your classwork line up. SAT/ACT and What You're Learning In School Even if you are just starting high school, you've already learned a lot of key skills and concepts that will help you on the SAT or ACT. You may not have encountered all the vocabulary or math concepts yet, but you probably know a lot more than you realize. Some students who wait until junior year actually feel like their classes have gotten more advanced than what they see on these tests, and they have to go back and review material from past years. By taking the time to prep now, you can really make sure you've reinforced this knowledge and have a clear sense of how you can apply it to one of the tests. Let's break down exactly what I mean by this in terms of each major subject. First, let's consider math. Math Somestudents have already taken an algebra class by the time they get to 9th grade, or are at least familiar with the related conceptsof a pre-algebra class. Algebra and geometry make up the majority of the math questions on the SAT, as well as on the ACT. The ACT gets a little more advanced by covering some trigonometry. As I mentioned above, some students are already in more advanced math classes by the time they take the SAT or ACT, like in pre-calculus or calculus, and mayhave gotten rusty with their algebra, geometry, and probability. Apart from reinforcing the concepts you already know with SAT/ACT practice problems, you can also get a headstart on 10th and th gradeby introducing yourself to new math concepts. You might find detailed explanations and practice problems that will help you learn these concepts independently of class, which can be especially helpful for students who work well on their own and want to set their own pace. If you're surprised that you already know a good deal of the math you'll need to do well on the SAT/ACT, you might also be intrigued to realize you already have some key reading skills, too. Let's take a look at what reading skills you'll need. Reading While there are some differences between the SAT Reading and the ACT Reading sections, there are more similarities. Both includea series of passages (including one pair), with questions about each, though the exact type of passagesand style of questions varies slightly. The passage-based questions on both tests want to make sure you understand the general purpose of the passage, as well as its tone or style. You'll be asked to interpret a word or phrase in context, along with demonstrating your understanding of details. These are all skills of reading comprehension and analysis that you'll have developed throughout your years of English classes in middle school and 9th grade. Reading comprehension is a skill best developed through reading widely and often. By prepping for the SAT/ACT as a freshman, along with the reading, writing, and analysis you do in your English class, you'll get better and better at these skills. Closely linked to the reading sections are the writing section of the SAT and the English section of the ACT. Writing and Grammar The Writing section of the SAT and English section of the ACT are pretty comparable. Both test your understanding of rules of grammar and syntax. Both also include an optional essay. Just like in your freshman year English classes, these testswant you to understand grammar rules, parts of speech, and sentence structure. The essays should generally take the form of a five-paragraph persuasive essay supported with strong examples. Practicing these in class and through test prep will help you develop your English language and writing skills, just like with reading. One difference with the SAT/ACT essay and essays you write in class might be that you'll be writing for the tests under timed conditions and by hand. Thus you'll have to learn to plan out your essay in just two to three minutes and draft it fast. Practicing this could be another useful tool for helping you become more efficient with the essays you're assigned for class. There are specific strategies you can use to draft high quality essays in a short amount of time that will help you on the SAT/ACT and in class. Test prep for the writing sections could help you score highly, impress your teachers, and save time while still writing thorough, well-developed essays. While the SAT and ACT overlap in terms of math, reading, and writing, there is one major section difference between the two. That difference is the ACT science section. Science Unlike the SAT, the ACT has a science section. Thismight sound like it requires a lot of memorization, but actually the science section is less about straight recall of scientific facts and more about applying scientific skills, like reading charts and graphs and interpreting data. In this sense, the science section is almost more like the reading section than the math section. Having some knowledge of biology, earth sciences, and chemistry is helpful, though, for being familiar with the terminology and having lab skills that you can apply to real data. Since a lot of students take biology with a lab freshman year, you'll probably be in a great position to do well on the ACT science section. Just like with the other sections, test prep on the ACT science can help reinforce what you're learning in class and give you a glimpse intonext year. It will strengthen your skills in the context of the ACT and prevent you from getting rusty and then having to reference back to material that you learned years earlier. You might even find you're ready to take the SAT Subject Test in Biology at the end of your freshman year! As you can see, you're likely already in a good position to handle the SAT/ACT. Prepping can help you do well on the tests and in school. Besides mastering and getting ahead on the content, prepping early also gives you more test dates to choose from. When Should You Take the SAT/ACT? Figuring out your SAT/ACT testing schedule as a freshman will ensure you have plenty of test dates to choose from. Since a lot of colleges superscore your results, or take your highest section scores across all dates you took the tests, some students choose to build up their SAT or ACT scores section by section. You can also usually use Score Choice for the SAT or select which score reports you want to send from the ACT, so you can just send the scores from whichever test date you choose. There are some exceptions, though, so you want to make sure you understand your colleges' policies regarding standardized test scores. One testing schedule that a lot of students use is to take the SAT/ACT once in the fall of junior year, again in the spring, and then a third time if they choose senior year. Some students may take it earlier, like in 10th or even 9th grade, to give themselves more testing opportunities or achieve their scores and be finished with the SAT/ACT before the busy time of junior and senior year. Students almost always improve when they retake the tests, having learned more about time management and gained valuable real test experience. Plus if you prep thoroughly and effectively, you can target your weaknesses and do better the next time. So how can you stick to a prep schedule in 9th grade that will help you score highly on the SAT/ACT? Prepping for the SAT/ACT As a Freshman As you saw above with the SAT and ACT Questions of the Day, a little bit of prep sustained over time can go a long way. You definitely don't have to spend all your time studying for these tests in 9th grade. I would suggest devoting an hour a week to test prep. This is enough to be useful and help you develop a habit, while also being low-key and manageable enough not to put yourself under undue stress or pressure. How can you stick to this? Just like with your homework, the best way to stay organized is to use an assignment notebook or planner to write down your plans, goals, and assignments and keep track of them. Some planners even break your day up hour by hour, so you could devote a specific time to test prep, like every Tuesday from 6 to 7. Making something a regular routine is the best way to remember it and incorporate it into your life. This will help you in all aspects of your academic life, along with setting and working towards your own personal goals. To Sum Up... By prepping early, you'llsee your SAT/ACT scores go up and up. Your effort will pay off in a huge way over time, especially if you maintain test prep as a regular part of your routine. Your motivation and discipline will positively impact other aspects of your high school career, too. Test prep will help you improve your math, reading, writing, and science skills, plus it will aid you when you take thePSAT. You can root out your strengths and weaknesses and figure out what you need to learn and where you shouldput in extra effort. Finally, it will remind you that all of your high school career is important for getting into college and help you start laying the groundwork for your future after graduation. What's Next? UK Tax System Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3250 words

UK Tax System - Assignment Example Profit margins are small: Higher expenditure and lower selling prices will lead to a lesser bottom-line and so lower dividend payments. This problem can be overcome by working efficiently and effectively to generate high sales and stand up competitively by not lowering the prices of goods. Late payments from customers will seriously influence the cash flow: In this case, credit terms should be discussed beforehand with customers and be kept strict so as to make inflows earliest. Key supplier (s) will gradually be dissatisfied: If payment problems to suppliers arise due to the expansion or new orders being taken, suppliers will be alarmed and dissatisfied with the company. To cure this problem, the company should beforehand discuss the situation with the suppliers and the credit terms should be precisely conveyed so as to prevent future problems. (b) There are a number of short-term finances available to the company to finance its proposed expansion; two of them are discussed as follo ws: Bank Loan, and Bank Overdraft Bank Loan: In the case of this company, bank loan pertains to the short-term period usually equal to or less than a year. The bank according to the credit rating lends the company a certain amount of loan needed and on an interest rate negotiated. Strengths: Amount will be received on one-time basis and the payment will be done in monthly, quarterly or semi annually installments Cost of borrowing is lower than other means such as Bank Overdraft Interest rates are low Reliability and security is always there in terms of getting the money from the bank on time and for a certain period of time contracted upon with the bank Weaknesses: The loan will be secured against the company’s assets The riskier the business is, the higher the interest rate the bank will charge to cover up its risk Arrangement fees, as well as repayment fees, will have to be paid In case of early repayment of loan, an extra charge will have to be paid Bank Overdraft: It is a kind of loan arrangement under which a bank extends credit allotted to a company up to a maximum amount called the overdraft limit against which a customer or company who has current or checking account with the bank can write checks or make withdrawals (Business Dictionary 2011). Strengths: Appropriate for short-term financing Not secured against any asset of the company so the process of obtaining the loan Is expedited Only charged for the amount overdrawn from the bank account and also pertaining only to the period of time the overdraft facility had been used by the company Weaknesses: The bank overdraft amount has to be paid on demand of the bank. This puts the company at a great risk in the case when the bank decides to request the money back at an inconvenient time for the business High-interest rate is charged (c) Capital Gearing Ratio This ratio tells us that how much risk the company is in terms of financial risk and it is used by companies as well as its shareholders to a nalyze the company’s capital structure and leverage (Accounting for Management 2011).

Mentorship Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

Mentorship - Assignment Example es who have supportive working relationships benefit by accelerated leadership development, higher earnings, and increased job satisfaction (Sosik and Lee, 2002 Mentoring is a professional relationship with a focus on personal and professional development. It may occur through various communication venues including, but not limited to face-to-face interactions, phone, or email. The duration and intensity of the relationship may vary depending on the dynamic of the match and the needs of the individuals involved. (American Physiological Society, 2008). There are range of factors from a clinical environment which may impact upon the learning of individuals and groups in that environment. These factors can be related to the protà ©gà ©, mentor or the other factors of the environment (Chan, 2004). The factors related to protà ©gà © are educational background, knowledge and skills, level of commitment to learn and develop his or her skills and knowledge, dedication, communication with mentor and others. In the same way, mentor needs to have adequate knowledge, skills and experience to share with the protà ©gà © and help them in their development (Hand, 2006). Mentors are senior persons with experiences and usually have busy schedules. The time management with the students are the most challenging aspects of mentoring process (Papp et al, 2003). In many cases, mentoring is considered as important process to help new professionals to develop their skills and knowledge. The perception and attitude of mentor and protà ©gà © influe nces their developmental relationships. For me as a mentor, the most challenging factors of the clinical learning environment for mentoring process as identified are lack of time with mentor, communication gaps between mentor and protà ©gà © and very underdeveloped skills of protà ©gà ©s. Usually in the oncology department, the professionals are loaded with work and new challenges with each patient. Patients are the priority and this makes it very

The Death Of Abraham Lincoln - The Pinkey Or The Bullet :: essays research papers fc

Lincoln   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Many people â€Å"think† that they know about the Lincoln assassination. There are two theories on the death of Abraham Lincoln. The first theory is that of John Wilkes Booth shooting Lincoln in the cerebrum. The second theory is that a doctor misplaced his pinkie finger when assisting Lincoln to a hospital. Many people believe that the doctor’s finger actually pushed the bullet further into Lincoln’s brain, leading to his death. This research paper will compare and contrast the different theories and viewpoints about how Lincoln was assassinated. (Norton)   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Abraham Lincoln was born on Sunday, February 12, 1809, in a log cabin in Kentucky. In his early life, he worked jobs including; running a store, surveying, and serving as a postmaster in New Orleans. There, Lincoln lived, worked, and he even wrestled the town bully, earning him the nickname, â€Å"Honest Abe†. Later on in life, Lincoln got married to a woman named Mary Todd. They had four children; Robert (1843 - 1926), Edward (1846 - 1850), William (1850 - 1862), and Thomas (1853 - 1871). Later on, Lincoln became an attorney, decided to settle down and buy a house in Springfield. (Norton) In 1846 Lincoln ran for the United States House of Representatives and won. He was well known throughout the political world for his opposition to the Mexican War and his will to put an end to slavery. In 1860, Lincoln won on the third ballot and was elected the 16th President of the United States on November 6, winning over Stephen A. Douglas. (Norton)   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚     Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  On April 14, 1865, the Lincoln family attended a play entitled â€Å"Our American Cousin†, at Ford’s Theater. At about 10:15 P.M. Lincoln was shot in the brain by John Wilkes Booth.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚     Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚     Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Booth was the ninth out of ten children. He was born in Bel Air, Maryland in 1838. Booth was an actor and chose not to fight in the Civil War, his sympathies lay with the South and against President Lincoln. As the Confederacy began to lose, Booth’s hatred of Lincoln became stronger and stronger. He eventually began to plot against the President. Booth fired a single shot - .44 - caliber Derringer into Lincoln’s head, behind the left ear (according to the book, â€Å"True Crime: Assassination†), by the editors of Time - Life Books. After the shooting, Booth leaped for the stage. One of his spurs got caught in a flag, and he broke his leg after landing on the stage. (Lattimer)   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚     Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  He staggered to his feet and shouted: â€Å"Sic semper tyrannis!† - meaning, â€Å"Thus always to tyrants!† On April 26, he was caught by Union soldiers on a farm near Bowling

The Miracle League of El Paso removes the obstructions that stop children with disabilities off the baseball field and allows them to experience playing the field. The main obstruction for disabled children starts from the natural grass fields. The Miracle League of El Paso is about building self-esteem, making new friends, and confidence. The Miracle League of El Paso applies a â€Å"buddy† system – coupling each player with a peer volunteer to help the players. The Miracle League of El Paso's strategic plan is to work closely with the Junior League of El Paso, Inc. and partnerships with the public leaders, and follow their directions, establishing a possible benefactor record. The short-term goal is the planning for an accessible, adaptable playground for the back area of the field. The Miracle League of El Paso plans to advertise and campaign to raise the needed $350,000 for the construction of the playground. The Miracle League of El Paso The Miracle League of El Paso is a non-profit organization that continues to grow with the community and the development through the innovative process of change within time. The nonprofit organization has developed a mission statement designed to motivate and encourage future success and permanence. The Miracle League of El Paso's mission is â€Å"to provide recreational opportunities to persons with disabilities, regardless of their abilities† (â€Å"The Miracle League Of El Paso†, 2013).The mission statement is positive, motivational, and long-term that definitely gives the nonprofit organization to strive towards. The mission statement helps develop the nonprofit organizati on as a resource that would be used by anyone who was doing research or just asking a question in general. The mission statement allows The Miracle League of El Paso to use any means possible to organize information (The Miracle League Of El Paso, 2013). There are thousands of children who play sports in the communities on facilities supported by residents through their tax dollars. The Miracle League of El Paso provides disabled children and young adults in our communities who cannot participate in a sport on a conventional field with a place to play baseball. The Miracle League of El Paso, and the community can provide the disabled children with an chance to experience the benefits from playing baseball. Even though the facility is built the Miracle League of El Paso continues to need support to sustain it (The Miracle League Of El Paso, 2013). The Miracle League of El Paso removes the obstructions that stop children with disabilities off the baseball field and allows them to exper ience playing the field. The main obstruction for disabled children starts from the natural grass fields. The Miracle League of El Paso teams play on a custom-designed, rubberized turf field that provides accommodation for wheelchairs and self-assured devices while preventing harm (The Miracle League Of El Paso, 2013). The Miracle League of El Paso is about building self-esteem, making new friends, and confidence. The Miracle League of El Paso applies a â€Å"buddy† system – coupling each player with a peer volunteer to help the players. The result from the buddy system is a bond that cannot be expressed. The buddy is there to protect the player. To assist the player in running, batting, and to be a long term friend for the whole season. Parents, relatives, siblings, and friends of players know their children's disability and therefore are encouraged to be the child's buddy. Buddies can start from the age of 12 and up (The Miracle League Of El Paso, 2013). The Miracle Le ague of El Paso caters to children who have a medical condition from any mental or physical disabilities, such as ADHD to cancer, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, and autism. â€Å"According to the 2000 Census Bureau’s states there are 5. million children in our country that have disabilities between the ages of five and 19, and with young adults the number increases substantially. † (Miracle League, 2013). Teams are divided by age and ability, which means that it is possible to have children from a wide range of ages on the same team if they play at a similar mental and physical level. There are three divisions of play, non-competitive, intermediate, and competitive. The difference is the teaching of regular baseball fundamentals in the competitive division. In non- competitive every child bats, runs, and last batter scores a home run.Intermediate division is in the middle of non-competitive and competitive division (Miracle League, 2013). The Strengths of the Mira cle League of El Paso is the ability to reach out to disabled children no matter their age is to become involved in a recreational sport such as baseball that schools, and little league teams would not include a disabled child. The main advantage of the Miracle League of El Paso is that this League is the only one of its kind in El Paso. The weakness of the Miracle League of El Paso is that the location is the only location for the park, and many children come from all parts of El Paso.A few children live in New Mexico. Because of the economy's situation many parents or relatives are not able to travel two times a week, especially if the park is 27 miles from their home. The Miracle League of El Paso needs to advertise through the social media more (Rivera, 2013). Opportunities for the Miracle League of El Paso is to advertise in the social media such as twitter, Insta-gram, T-mobile, Verizon, television, etc. Collaborate with other nonprofit organizations to help each other out wit h whatever is needed for each organization to sustain in today's economy. The Miracle League of El Paso needs to partner with the school district bus systems for transportation from each districts area to transport the children to and from Ponder Park for activities (Rivera, 2013). Threats for the Miracle League of El Paso is the downfall of the economy. Because of tough times, and a rise in unemployment it is hard to donate for the cause. Volunteers, coaches, and parents may begin to drop from attending and may not be able to pay for registration of their child along with uniforms. Trends for the Miracle League of El Paso would be to add onto Ponder Park with more recreational activities. The all inclusive playground. Another trend would be to add a Recreational center for additional activities to be added to Ponder park such as yoga, aerobics, dance classes, etc. (Rivera, 2013). Although the SWOTT analysis may be used for the external and internal environment, it may still have the organization's thinking remain in the same place rather than evolve and grow. With this the three circles analysis comes in to play. Everything that has been questioned to add on to the Miracle League of El Paso, and the areas that prohibit players and siblings to attend are the main concerns of the customers and the beneficiary's.The nonprofit organization needs to question if they are succeeding in their beliefs, distinctiveness, what should be provided, effectiveness and what to add to the values for the beneficiaries (Rivera, 2013). The Miracle League of El Paso's strategic plan is to work closely with the Junior League of El Paso, Inc. and partnerships with the public leaders, and follow their directions, establishing a possible benefactor record. Substantiate expenses of projects and create an official financial plan counting in-kind contributions. Plan meetings with potential organizations to establish possible field, and facility lease agreements. The Miracle League of El Pas o formed a website for the main way of corresponding what they are doing and who they are. Educate the residents and businesses throughout El Paso County about the Miracle League of El Paso through the public awareness support, public discussions, and speaking arrangements. Investigate innovated ideas for flourishing upcoming events and constant endowment raising to ensure future success (The Miracle League Of El Paso, 2013). The short-term goal is the planning for an accessible, adaptable playground for the back area of the field. The Miracle League of El Paso plans to advertise and campaign to raise the needed $350,000 for the construction of the playground. The playground will be created for mental and physically disabled children of all ages to play in an environment that children and their families can play together, regardless of their abilities. The playground will promote inclusive play by concentrating on convenience for age, developmental suitability, and sensory-stimulatin g activity that makes a superior partner for The Miracle League of El Paso (The Miracle League Of El Paso, 2013).The Miracle League of El Paso needs to increase the number of committed volunteers and coaches to downscale the number of players on each team. Seek additional volunteers from boy scouts, girl scouts, high schools that need so many hours of community work for graduation, surrounding schools, universities, church groups, civic organizations, YMCA, YWCA, retired community, etc. . Seek additional community partnerships (The Miracle League Of El Paso, 2013). An opportunity for the Miracle League of El Paso is to advertise in the social media such as twitter, Instagram, T-mobile, Verizon, television, etc.Collaborate with other nonprofit organizations to help each other out with whatever is needed for each organization to sustain in today's economy. The Miracle League of El Paso needs to partner with the school district bus systems for transportation from each districts area to transport the children to and from Ponder Park for activities (Rivera, 2013). The Miracle League of El Paso does not have a transportation system for disabled children and families, which inhibits them to get to each game or event at the Miracle field location. The Miracle League of El Paso will propose a partnership with the school districts of each area that disabled children are located in to help transport the children for each game. The Miracle League of El Paso can propose to use their umbrella general liability insurance for safety precautions during the use of the school district bus system. If the school district bus system could not partner with the Miracle League of El Paso, the Miracle League will try to establish a partnership with Sun Metro for specific days and times for the families and participants of the Miracle League of El Paso.To help raise money for the Miracle League of El Paso throughout the years a run/walk event for the cause will be established as well as possible future sponsors and partners to increase recreational activities for the Miracle League of El Paso. The grand strategy for the Miracle League is to partner with one major construction company, Hunt's construction company, in El Paso, Texas. Partnering with Hunt Construction Company will inaugurate the construction of the all inclusive playground for disabled children and their families. The Miracle League of El Paso will only ask to partner with Hunts Construction Company because will allow only for the full press and advertisement of one main construction company, along with the company logo on all participants, family members, and buddy t-shirts. The Miracle League of El Paso will also ask to have the television news broadcast the development of the all inclusive playground for advertisement of the construction company as well as the Miracle League of El Paso for future participants. One major functional tactic is that the Miracle League of El Paso's responsibility is to ha ve the CEO-Founder-Executive Director, Sandra Olivar to be devoted to the mission, and goals of the Miracle League of El Paso while preserving inflexible values and the highest principles of superiority. Sandra Olivar must be devoted to increase the resources required to construct and maintain the mission, and goals. Sandra Olivar must generate an atmosphere in which volunteers remain engaged and ommitted to the constant requirements of the organization. Sandra Olivar must incorporate a better understanding to the volunteer staff increasing the role in the organization’s mission and goals (Peace & Robinson, 2011). Because Sandra Olivar is the main director she has first-hand knowledge for the basis of schedules, strategic control, developing budgets around new events, and trigger points for the organization. Sandra Olivar is a powerful asset to the organization.Sandra Olivar has a powerful motivational connection with the beneficiaries and especially can connect with the volu nteers and beneficiaries through a reward system motivating them to further accomplish future goals for the organization (The Miracle League of El Paso, 2013). Sandra Olivar is the main non-paid volunteer operating the daily events of the League. Sandra Olivar’s responsibilities are to make sure that members register every season. Sandra Olivar must keep tabs on the increase and decrease of program fees and payments, which this year has increased to a 95% rate (The Miracle League of El Paso, 2013).Sandra Olivar must make sure that contributions and sponsorships have increased or dropped for the year, which for this year has dropped by 65% (The Miracle League of El Paso, 2013). The Miracle League of El Paso entails approximately $55,000 per season. The Miracle League of El Paso has sustained 300 players and intends to increase that rate substantially once the advertisement of the all inclusive playground has been initiated. Because of the drop of volunteer coaches the Miracle League of El Paso is training older disabled players. The trained coaches must have had at least three years of experience with the Miracle League. This action will help increase the volunteer coaches for the increase of disabled children teams (The Miracle League of El Paso, 2013). The functional tactic of time horizon gives the organization a focal point of implementing the grand strategy today instead of five years from today. The forecasted time horizon for this implementation of the all inclusive playground is one year. Time horizon also allows the leaders of the organization to adjust to any changes or conditions that may occur through the implementation period.Participants of the organization are the key developers to develop the implementation plan of the all inclusive playground. Sandra Olivar must involve operating volunteers with first-hand knowledge of what needs to be implemented to achieve the short-term goal of the playground. Plus, once the commencement of the playgro und has begun, other events must be catered to, which all volunteers, including Sandra Olivar must be involved (Peace & Robinson, 2011). Sandra Olivar will promote policies for the volunteers and participants formally and informally. Policies promote people to act.Formal written policies will be distributed to each volunteer and participant with instructions to read and fully understand what is asked and instructed for a safe environment as well as a prosperous one. If there is any misunderstanding of the policies Sandra Olivar will be available at any time to help. Informal briefings of the policies will be held twice a month among everyone in a group not only to inform the volunteers and participants of changes, but also to engage everyone to give ideas and support for future implementations (Peace & Robinson, 2011).The Financials for the Miracle League of El Paso were given to Cindy Rivera from Sandra Olivar. Sandra Olivar has asked that Cindy Rivera keep most of the information private because of the confidentiality of specific policies and sponsors (The Miracle League of El Paso, 2013). The risk management plan ensures that the plan is a primary part of the Miracle League of El Paso's decision-making process. The Miracle League of El Paso will use a prearranged risk management method to reduce logically probable financial, physical, or legal impairment to people, disturbance to procedures, and harm to the surroundings and material goods. The Miracle League of El Paso will classify and obtain gain of prospects as well as reducing unfavorable outcomes. The Miracle League of El Paso will educate the group to execute risk management successfully. The Miracle League of El Paso will attempt repeatedly to advance the risk management procedures (The Miracle League of El Paso, 2013). Sandra Olivar is responsible to the organization for the executi on of the risk management procedure and finally in charge for the risk management in the group. All volunteers and participants are accountable for supervision risks in their part.Sandra Olivar will have a diverse outlook of safety to that of a referee or player (The Miracle League of El Paso, 2013). The endeavor of any risk management arrangement is to help the organization to recognize possible risks to its functions and widen corrective measures that will reduce, eliminate, and control the danger connected with those dangers. To make effective decisions, Sandra Olivar must assess and take steps to control certain dangers and their impact (The Miracle League of El Paso, 2013). To conclude, the risk management plan must be successful, it should become part of the Miracle League’s traditions.Risk management must be incorporated into the Miracle League’s operating actions, attitude, strategic plans, and should grow to be the accountability of each person in the Miracle League of El Paso. We cannot change or cure the medical issues life has dealt our children with disabilities. What we can do is provide them what an opportunity to experience the joy and benefits which comes from playing baseball and other recreational sports and activities available (Rivera, 2013). What Is Minimum Wage Is Not Ideal And Struggles - 909 Words

This reading was slightly hard for me to relate to at first. Then the more I thought about it the more I realized how many encounters and interactions I’ve actually had with scenarios like these. In Young’s reading about the woman and her two kids who had to settle for a place to live that wasn’t ideal I was incredibly frustrated. It’s seriously sad to think that there are other people going through similar struggle like this. It’s not logical to make three months’ rent deposit and pay for the other startups that come with an apartment, especially when you have to kids and you’re a single mom. She’s obviously trying to do what’s right but because of her situation she is not able to. This is part of the reason I think poverty recycles itself, because we do not give a lot of the opportunities needed to get out of slumps like this. Minimum wage is not ideal and struggles to meet the cost of living, especially if youâ₠¬â„¢re a single mom with two kids. After this first part, the reading got more into what we can do as a society, and I think my favorite idea that was talked about was how we do not have the choice of where we are born into. I did not choose to be a white female but it’s what I was born into. When Johnson got started with â€Å"Changing how we think will not be enough to solve the problem.† I disagreed quite a bit. Sure it is true for some groups but I find it hard to believe that it’s true for all. Johnson also stated that if everyone took responsibility and keptShow MoreRelatedThe Minimum Wage Is Important And Hot Topic Throughout The World Essay1332 Words   |  6 PagesMinimum wage is an important and hot topic throughout the world, especially America.
